Hands-Free Gaming
The Atopia Smart Shirt enables fun, novel gaming mechanics!
It is a hands-free 3D human–computer interaction system, where head movement, posture, gestures, and muscle activation replace traditional controllers.
Atopia also reads psychophysiological states like muscle tension and heart rate, and estimate Probable Emotional States in real-time.
Atopia sensor modules are not visible when integrated in clothing; they are shown here on top of the shirt for illustrative purposes only.
We developed “The Nexus”, Level 1: “The Forest” to familiarize users with our unique interface that uses intuitive hands-free mechanics:
Free Look
Move your head to control the camera in-game
(Replaces mouse / right joystick)
Movement
Lean to move in the direction you want to go
(Replaces WASD / left joystick)
Natural Gesture Control
Point your hand (aim) and squeeze your fist (fire / execute)
(Replaces mouse + joystick trigger)

We developed a number of “special abilities” to showcase system capabilities:
Teleportation
Aim your hand to choose your destination.
Squeeze your hand to Teleport.
Telekinesis
Aim your hand to select an object to move.
Squeeze your hand to grab the object; relax to release it.
Energy Blast
Aim your hand to focus the direction of the blast.
Squeeze your hand to release a blast!
